Well, yesterday was a new experience. Courtesy of the guys responsible for social happenings at work arranged a mini-cup… a total of 17 persons raced warm-up heats and qualifying heats before we were divded into A, B and C finals.

I never knew driving could put such a demand on you. After the warm up and qualifying heat I was desperate for some water, my throat was hoarse and my back strained (which may be a side-effect of me having back problems for 3 years, but I heard the “healthy” guys complain aswell…). And when I came home I felt almost as worn-out as after a training session, and had the perspiration to show for it.

The Penguin Indians…

Tuesday, October 11th, 2005

Well, I did an emerge (which is akin to Windows Update for those that don’t understand linux techtalk) on my system yesterday. And whee, seems the guys at Gentoo has grown tired of the way they had Apache2 configured so they changed all the configs…

Which of course resulted in me spending a lot of energy on reconfiguring dozens of virtual hosts and secure servers… (not to mention that ClamAV stopped processing my emails on Thursday – so I had to debug that aswell earlier… oh and nothing on the system really told me that it was ClamAV that was the culprit :D )

2 Days later…

Monday, September 12th, 2005

Well, seems I stopped updating my sites again… You see, 2 days after my last post I got some terrible news. A very good (albeit only online) friend of mine was murdered. This took some oomph out of my lust for online experiences – but as they say life goes on…

Game woes caused police turn-out!

Thursday, June 30th, 2005

Sometimes the gaming Experience can be taken to seriously, even by your neighbours. According to TV2/Nettavisens SpillMagasinet and Bergens Tidende this was the case recently in Haugesund. Why someone would take a game so seriously is beyond me… even more so since it was a football manager game – crikey!

PlayStation Portable

Monday, June 27th, 2005

You know, loving gadgets I guess it wasn’t hard for one of my friends to sucker me into buying the PSP. I’ve had it 2 months now, and I have one game :D The one game that came in the box… (to be fair I’ve ordered 3 more, 1 for me, 1 for the kid and 1 for the both of us … maybe ;) )

But what is so GREAT about it is… these people have managed to make their own programs run on it! Of course Sony’s shitting their pants – but I love it. I can now have homemade games (like Casino Addict, and Rick Dangerous) for free… aswell as other system emulators! That’s right, the little PlayStation that could can now emulate GameBoy, GBAdvanced, Super Nintendo, Turbo Grafx-16, Sega Genesis and a whole bunch of other systems. What is so great about that is that as a “gamer” I can finally try out lots of old but good games that ;

1. I never had a system to use on (come on, as a kid I had limited funds, and so did my parents – the C64 was enough)

2. I can enjoy games/systems that never was available in my country (being only 4 million people makes us not a very attractive market for struggling businesses).

3. I don’t need to pay! Now this would border on Piracy (I know I know) but the fact is I would 99.9% certainly never have spent a dime on any of these systems/games anyways because I simply can’t be arsed to play a game for that long. The only games I’ve spent a good deal of time on since 1992 has been a few co-ops or head-2-head games along a few good friends.
