Ocean’s Eleven (2001)

February 21st, 2002

An entertaining 2 hours with Clooney, Pitt and Garcia in this heist movie by Soderbergh. High production values and very nice camera work in this movie. Though it is still lacking “something”, so I end up giving this 4/6.

In this heist movie which is a remake of the 1960 Rat-pack vehicle with the same name, we follow Danny Ocean on his quest to blow his nose at the rich “entrepeneur” Terry Benedict who has taken his ex-wife. Danny strikes up with ten other after his release from prison, to rob Benedict’s three casinos and try to get his wife back at the same time.

Directed by Steven Soderbergh (The Limey, Out of Sight) it’s an entertaining film. Clooney and Pitt are having a ball, and Garcia is the typical “Italian mobster”. The other cast is merely supporting, with small roles that really have no big effect on the picture; I think anyone could have filled those shoes.
